This policy explains what information the Global Chat Translator app (the “app”) and its servers process, why, and the choices you have. The app is provided by Codevine (“we”, “us”). Questions: contact@codevine.net.

Global Chat Translator is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by WhatsApp or Meta.

1. The short version

2. Information we process

WhatWhy
App identifiers — a random device ID created by the app and an internal account ID. To create your account without a password and keep your settings and subscription linked to it.
WhatsApp link — the phone number of the WhatsApp account you link and the cryptographic keys of that linked device. The keys are stored encrypted (AES-256). To keep the linked-device connection to your own WhatsApp working, as WhatsApp Web or Desktop would. You can unlink at any time.
Messages and media — chats, message text, voice messages and media you open in the app, received through your linked WhatsApp. To show your chats and translate them. They are held in memory only and are not written to our databases or disks. Older messages are loaded from your phone again when needed.
Settings — app language, default translation languages. To provide the service the way you set it up.
Usage counts and app events — e.g. number of messages translated (for the free quota), language pairs used, app opened, steps of the WhatsApp linking flow, app version. They do not contain message content. To apply the free plan limits, keep the service working, and improve the app.
Push notification token, platform and app version. To notify you about new messages and important account events (for example, when your WhatsApp link drops). You can turn notifications off in your phone settings.
Subscription status — product, status and expiry date of an in-app subscription. To unlock Pro features. Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never receive your card details.
Crash reports — technical details of an app crash or error (stack trace, device model, operating system, app version, a crash-reporting installation ID and your internal account ID). No message content. To find and fix bugs (Firebase Crashlytics).
Install attribution — which campaign or store page led to the install, device model and OS, IP address and, only where you allow it, the device advertising identifier. To measure which marketing channels work (Tenjin). On iOS the advertising identifier is used only if you allow tracking in the system prompt.

3. Service providers

We share information only with providers that process it on our behalf to run the app:

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and our service. Some of these providers are located outside your country (including the United States); where required, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

We process information to provide the service you asked for (contract), for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and reliable, fixing crashes and understanding aggregate usage, and with your consent where required (for example, iOS tracking permission and push notifications). You can withdraw consent at any time in your device settings.

5. How long we keep information

6. Your choices and rights

7. Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS) and every request carries a signed, per-device access token. WhatsApp link keys are encrypted at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we keep so there is as little as possible to protect.

8. Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above always shows the latest version.
